Red Army GM Max Di Paola held his first off season press conference today to discuss the draft day acquisition of Kari Lehtonen and his plans for the up coming start of the free agent period.

"We decided to make a change in nets, Nabokov will not be offered a new contract, he will become an UFA when the free agent period begins. This decision was made shortly after our first round loss to the Thunder. Evgeni has been with this team since the beginning of his NHA career, he's done some great things for this franchise, but I feel the time has come for both Evgeni and the Red Army to move on." Said GM Di Paola in a press conference he held earlier today.

"Lehtonen is one of the top young goalies in this league right now; he's only 25 and is only getting better. We are already negotiating with his agent to get him signed to a new long term contract, things are moving along at a good pace and he should be under contract very soon. He is very excited to be with our team and is looking forward to next season. He wants to help us win our first championship." Said GM Di Paola

"Now as for what we are planning to do during the UFA period, first thing we need to re-sign some of our players, but I think after that's done we should still have enough cap room to put a few new players under contract. I like what our top 2 lines look like right now, my main focus will be getting players for our 3rd and 4th line and rebuilding our defense core. The only full time defensemen we still have under contract from last season are Zidlicky and Aucoin so there is a lot of work to be done. But if all goes to plan we will have an even stronger team than we had last season."

There you have it, look for the Red Army to be very active in the coming weeks.
