Brief Overview:
The Calgary Wildcats entered the NHA via expansion in the summer of 1999. Along with the Pittsburgh Mammoths, the Wildcats selected their players through an expansion draft as well as the entry draft where they chose Henrik Sedin fourth overall. The first few years of the franchise's exsistence yielded low win totals and equally high draft picks, where they picked up the vast core of their impressive young roster.
Aside from a slight dip in the standings in 2003-04, the Wildcats have improved steadily each year. They have yet to make the playoffs, but missed out on the post-season by only two points in 2005-06. Fans in Calgary have been taking notice, as attendance levels continue to rise for this exciting team full of young stars.
Prior to the 2006-07 season opener, Neil Hamblin was introduced as the team's new General Manager. Neil brings years of experience with him, and will be looking to take the Wildcats to the post-season and beyond. And the fans in Calgary will be expecting no less than success.
