Brief Overview:
The Carolina Renegades are a club that has experienced varied success over the years in the NHA. Though their roster has been talented, they have not yielded results in both the regular season nor playoffs. With their breakout 2005-06 season led by Sidney Crosby, however, that hopefully looks to change for new GM (as of April 2007) Anthony Notarianni.
A new era for Renegades fans can be pointed towards one day: The day the franchise won a 30-team lottery for the 2005 draft, and thus the rights to draft young phenom Crosby first overall. Sid the Kid immediatly went on to post team regular season records for most goals with 36, and points with 93. Aside from Crosby, the teams' first round draft record under previous management has been shaky at best. They have found gems in the later rounds however, such as top blueliner Marek Zidlicky, sniper Petr Prucha and emerging Dennis Wideman all coming in the second half of previous drafts.
Anthony Notarianni has a tough job ahead of him, but the pieces do appear to be here. It should be an interesting season for Renegades fans.
