Brief Overview:
The Laval Sentinels are the former Florida Gators, a franchise that has experienced moderate regular season success, but historically has struggled to do much at all in the post-season. Before being known as the Gators, the club was located in San Fransisco and known as the Spiders, but the management team in San Fransisco fell apart before long. In November of 2006, former Carolina Renegades GM Brad Lucas returned to the NHA and the club was re-located to Laval, Quebec, where it looks to turn the corner in a direction towards success.
Long-time team scoring leader Pavol Demitra was dealt early in 2007 for futures, and the Sentinels have the strong nucleus of young future stars to ensure that they are looking good for years to come. 2004 NHA Defenseman-of-the-year runner up Ed Jovanovski leads the offense from the back end, while Ryan Miller looks to build on the solid goaltending history of the franchise that was once backstopped by Patrick Roy.
Brad Lucas has his work cut out for him, but there is no doubt that the pieces are in place for the Laval Sentinels to be a big success in the NHA.
