    Brief Overview:
    The Ottawa Running Yaks have experienced great success in the NHA over the years, including in 2001 when they won the NHA Championship. Led by Paul Kariya since day 1, Ottawa has built a strong core through both trades and the draft. In 1999 they nabbed Martin Erat and Henrik Zetterberg in the 7th and 8th rounds respectfully - a tribute to the strong talent analysis of long-time GM Brandon Weatherbed.

    The team has not been without its low points too, however. In 2001-02, despite putting up an enormous 55-win season, the Running Yaks were bounced in round 1 of the playoffs in 6 games. Now the team looks to re-gain its 2001 Championship-winning form in 2007. One thing is for certain: The Albert Hughes Memorial Arena will be rocking come playoff time year after year for the forseeable future.
